Most Wanted, urban dance group formed as part of a project at the University of Portsmouth, are one of the crews competing in the CBBC’s street dance competeion ’Alesha’s Street Dance Stars.’
The programme sees pop singer and TV presenter Alesha Dixon search the nation looking to find of the most talented dance crews. Most Wanted, all aged between 10-16, auditioned to beat 200 other teams to win a place in the competition which will run for 22 episodes from today.
In April the group travelled to London to audition for the programme with their coach, Carly-Ann Purcell, Dance Development Officer for the University’s ‘UP For Sport’ initiative. She said the youngsters were over the moon to receive the news that they had made it on to the show.
“They were so excited to make it to the competition. Filming took place in Manchester and involved staying away from home in a hotel which they loved. A place in the show was down to sheer hard work and dedication and I was incredibly proud to see them be a part of it.”
The crew, made Sofaya Looker-Ere, Holly Roux, Josie Judd, Melissa Zulu, Amber Jerome, Shanice Burton and Grace Turner, have gone from styrength to strength since winning the Southern Street Dance Championships in 2010.
