The Most Wanted Dance Off is now in it’s 6th year and promises to be bigger and better than ever. The event will take place at The Kings Theatre, Southsea on Thusday 23rd February 2012. The day will see two seperate events running, in the afternoon Portsmouth Primary Schools will be competing for the title of Junior Dance Off Winners 2012. the evening will see secondary schools compete for the title of Senior Dance Off Winners 2012.

The Dance Off is a joint programme run by the University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth School Schools Partnership and Portsmouth City Council. The aim of the project is to give young people the opportunity to engage in structured dance sessions as well as the opportuntiy to showcase what they have been taught on a big stage in front of their friends and family.

Our sessions are led by students from the University of Portsmouth, these are trained by the university’s own dance co-ordinator Carly-ann Purcell. all of our coaches have a passion for dance and working with young people. Our lead coaches are experienced in delivering dance sessions to young people and have attended a Level 1 Award in Dance Leadership.

For those young people who wish to continue participating in dance sessions following the Dance Off event we offer Street Dance classes for young people of all abilities, we are also able to provide support to schools who wish to continue offering dance to their pupils through the UP for Sport scheme, for more information about this please contact Carly-ann Purcell, carly-ann.purcell@port.ac.uk
