Street Dance At The University of Portsmouth

 

The University of Portsmouth employs a  Dance Development Officer.  Her post requires her to personally deliver and organise the provision of Street Dance to schools/clubs/youth groups and community environments in Portsmouth. She bi-annually delivers the nationally recognised Dance Leaders Qualification to University students and local teenagers. Each year Carly-Ann runs the UP for Dance volunteering programme involving 20 plus volunteers teaching Street Dance in 20 different schools, the volunteering programme leads up to the annual ‘Junior Dance off’ Street Dance competition which is organised by Carly-ann and Charlotte Doyle (Sports Development Officer).

 

Carly-ann founded Most Wanted in 2007 a Hip Hop / Street Dance organisation consisting of three performance crews and regular drop in classes every Friday that anyone can attend. Most Wanted were the Under 18’s Champions in the UDO Southern Street Dance Championships in 2010 and most recently made it through to the last 24 from over 200 crews from around the country to appear on CBBC’s Alesha’s Street Dance Stars this summer. http://portsmouthdanceacademy.co.uk/most-wanted/for more links to Most Wanted.

 

Carly-Ann has trained for many years specialising Hip Hop and Street Dance. Most of her training taking place in London and most recently Los Angeles. In 2002 she qualified in Exercise to Music at NVQ Level 2, Carly-Ann also holds an internationally recognised ICF qualification in cheerleading and well as a Dance Leaders Tutor qualification.
